May 2016 Update on Jennifer Barber

Happy May!

I always felt I was the luckiest girl in the world, to be born in May, flowers blooming, birds nesting, and the sun shining warmly upon again after a long winter. This year marks huge changes for me and my family, great things.

So, as an early birthday gift to myself, I treated myself to a couple of mini readings at New Visions Bookstore here in York. My focus for the readings was, “what direction should I take in my life.” A tall order for a mini-reading. My first reading was with someone I did not know. They had no idea what I did. One of the first things she said to me was, “You are a teacher! You do what you do to give love back into the world. Keep doing what you are doing.” I’m pretty sure my jaw dropped. Tears definitely began to fall. So, here I am keeping to my path, but making a commitment to be all in, in helping you get the most out of your Silva Method techniques.

Better & Better!

“Who Are You?”

~ the Caterpillar, Alice in Wonderland

Lately, I have been asking myself, “who are you?”. And yes, in my head, it sounds like the caterpillar from Alice in Wonderland.

Maybe you have too. Or maybe you are feeling stuck. Or just not sure which direction to go.

I recently began a search to find the answer because these times they are a changing.

In the next month, my oldest daughter, Emilynn, graduates from college. My youngest daughter Maddie, graduates from high school. I will be turning forty-three. And my husband and I will be celebrating twenty-one years of marriage.

As a child and teen, I knew what I liked, be it foods, music, toys, activities, places to visit, etc. I may not have been able to do them when I wanted, but I knew what they were.

After years of being a wife and mom, those likes have become less clear, overshadowed by the group preferences. Can you relate?

So, when Maddie went to travel around Europe for two weeks, I decided to reacquaint me with me.

The only thing I planned was a caffeine and sugar cleanse … this is not for the feint at heart! Using my awesome Silva skills, I made it through the first day and the subsequent days were very easy. I found myself more alert and clear headed, more conscious.

The rest of the two weeks I spent making conscious decisions about everything: when I ate, what I ate, what music I listened to, whether or not to exercise, meditating, who I talked to, etc.

I learned a few things: I like me (whew!) and I needed more fun and creativity in my life.

Making a conscious decision to add creativity, I unpacked my stained glass supplies (14 years packed away) and sign-up for a Mindful Drawing class.

What could you use more of in your life?

Another thing I learned, when I consciously made decisions, my goals manifested very quickly.

My challenge to you is to begin making conscious decisions – about everything.

Reacquaint yourself with You.

This is an important first step in becoming the creator you were born to be. And yes, a creator is definitely part of who you are.

Have fun and let me know what you discover!
